Erik Shane Swanson was born in Santa Barbara, California in 1983 and raised in Portland, Oregon. He earned his BFA from the Otis College of Art and Design in 2005 then moved to Brooklyn, New York and worked as an illustrator. Swanson has exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Texas. He participated in the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2013, and completed his MFA at the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. Erik has since returned to Brooklyn, where he now lives and works.
